Pengrowth-Nova Scotia Energy
Scholarship Program

Requirements

To sustain the scholarship, the recipient understands there are particular requirements that are to be followed.

University Scholars:

  • He/She is responsible for achieving and maintaining an academic performance resulting in an average grade of at least "B" (75%) from a full academic course load for the program listed below in order to qualify for scholarship renewal in subsequent years, to a maximum of four years in total.
  • He/She is responsible for submitting an official university transcript of marks from the academic year by the end of June.
  • He/She understands that should he/she reduce his/her course load to below a full academic load, through academic withdrawal or academic failure during the regular academic year for not more than one (1) full credit course, he/she must inform the Scholarship Review Committee of his/her intent to make up the shortfall during the following summer session. The undersigned further understands that his/her failure to attain a grade point average equal to at least "B" forfeits any present and future claim to award funds.
  • Should he/she withdraw from his/her program of study listed below, he/she will be required to repay the $2,500 to the Scholarship Fund and must immediately inform the Scholarship Review Committee, in writing, of his/her decision to withdraw from the program. Students transferring to another, equivalent program of study in sciences, engineering or business, students transferring to the equivalent academic program in another accredited university, or students transferring to another university to complete the requirements for the bachelor of engineering degree must inform the awards committee immediately.
  • He/She understands that, in accordance with "financial need" eligibility guidelines, he/she cannot accept entrance scholarship awards from other sources in excess of $2,500.
  • He/She may apply for and receive additional scholarship and award support in his/her second through fourth years of the academic program without affecting the continuation of the Pengrowth-Nova Scotia Energy Scholarship.

Recipients of the Innovation Grant are to follow certain requirements as well.

Innovation Grants:

  • Should his/her approved research topic change, or if he/she withdraws from the program of study noted below or ceases to be a full-time student, the Pengrowth-Nova Scotia Energy Scholarship Review Committee ("Review Committee") must be notified immediately.
  • He/She will provide the Nova Scotia Department of Energy, at no cost, with a final copy of research results, including a bound copy of the final thesis and any subsequent reprints of scientific writings arising from this work.
  • He/She will be available to provide a summary presentation of his/her research results at the request of the Nova Scotia Department of Energy or Pengrowth Corporation.
  • He/She understands that the grant will normally be paid out in September of each of two years normally associated with a master's program in question.
